⚡ What do we do at Oro?
We are building products and services that can help create a financial system that is more inclusive. There are 3 primary tenets based on which we build our products – trust, access and pricing.
We ensure our products are simple and transparent, and build partnerships that embody trust. All of this, to provide convenience to the customer at cheapest possible costs.
Indians own 25,000 tonnes of gold, stored in their houses or bank lockers. Out of that, less than 1,500 tonnes contributes positively to India's GDP.
Oro's mission is to help monetise the next 10%, or ~ 2,500 tonnes by leveraging technology, convenience and partnerships - boosting India's GDP by over 6%.
Solving this is going to be (r)evolutionary! It will take multiple products and a kick-ass team. There's infinite potential, and we want YOU to be a part of it.

☕ Who is building Oro?
We've made a conscious effort to put together people who come from diverse experiences, not just in terms of industries, but also in terms of the time they've spent in these industries. We've built businesses before, and we're super excited about what Oro can become!
Parth is Oro's resident Gujju fixer, always in shorts. At any point, he's thinking either food or money. Has been an entrepreneur since he was 20, starting a construction company, a grocery startup before cofounding Genie which got acquired by Dunzo where he was handling merchant ops.
Co-founder of Genie with Sreekesh and Parth, before leading Dunzo's Chennai business for 2 years and Hyderabad business for 3 quarters. He just found out that he's lactose intolerant and that his entire life has been a lie. You can find him arguing with cooks to make food as per his dietary requirements. He's also the CEO.
Oro is Sreekesh's 6th entrepreneurial gig, but his biggest achievement is losing 50Kgs of bodyweight in 2020! A product person, a designer and a UI/UX person, he was the cofounder of Genie and handled growth partnerships for Dunzo. It is usually advisable to schedule meetings with him after his first cup of coffee.
Mithun is a doting father, a surfing enthusiast and pro badminton player. He also happens to be the founder and CEO of CaratLane.com – India's first omni channel jewellery brand founded in 2008.
Mali is the most radiant of us all! Apart from keeping us accountable, he's the Director of TSM Group, one of the largest pre-owned car dealership and one of the biggest distributors of 3rd party financial products in South India, representing all leading banks in the country since 1988.
Talk to Us
We believe in transparency, and in building a trusting relationship with everyone we interact with. While we answer a lot of basic questions on orocorp.in, here are some other things you might be curious about -
We're a Chennai company, currently working out of Nungambakkam. We're located 2.5kms from the beach, 1.5km from Chennai's favourite movie complex and there's loads of places around if you feel peckish or party like.
P.S.: Don't worry if you don't know Tamil. Most of us speak Hindi or one other language
We're a small team and we love working in the same space. It really helps with brainstorming and collaboration!
However, we know times are challenging - so we are open to some positions working remotely.
We're quite balanced, at least that's what we like to believe! Although there's no mandatory working hours, we start hustling by 10 am and the wind down by 7-8 pm. It depends on what we're trying to accomplish at that point, and what your role is. But it's simple: we trust you to get work done. Whatever time you'd like to it.
We've raised $650K from people who have built and invested in multiple successful businesses. We are in the middle of another fund raise.
Oro was conceptualised in March 2020, just before COVID hit. The pandemic helped us realise how important the use of gold could be to financially empower Indian households; furthering our resolve. We launched in Jan '21, and we're trending ahead of our plans!
